Job Description: 

Responsibilities: - Prepare and compile year-end audit working papers. Respond to auditor inquiries, as required. - Assist the Treasurer and Budget / Special Projects Officer as required. - Assist in monitoring systems to ensure accurate and timely financial processes and financial reporting. - Prepare journal entries, account analysis and working papers. - Respond to internal and external inquiries and requests. Qualifications: - Graduate of post-secondary education in Business Administration / Accounting or its equivalent - A professional accounting designation, or progress towards the completion of a designation is considered an asset - A minimum of three (3) years of current, related and relevant experience and/or training in a financial accounting environment providing intermediate level financial and analytical operations support to Management, with comprehensive knowledge of accounting principles, practices and general accounting theories would be considered an asset. - Experience using financial software. Knowledge of Great Plains and Diamond is an asset. - Good understanding of municipal government, its operations and services, specifically finance principles and practices. - Knowledge of relevant Acts and Legislation governing the financial operations of municipal government. - Research, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills to enable the assessment of issues/situations and to develop options and effectively resolve complex situations or business problems, or consulting with the Treasurer as required. - Demonstrated project management and organizational skills. - Proficient in Windows based software including Microsoft Office applications; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required - Proven communication skills, including written, verbal and listening skills, and demonstrated interpersonal/relationship building skills in order to effectively work as a team member. - Proven attention to detail and accuracy in the work performed. - Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision. This is an 18-month temporary posting.
