Job Description: 

The role of the Maintenance Planning & Reliability Superintendent is to lead a team of planners and reliability specialists responsible to support the operations by maximizing asset availability through reliability improvements and maintenance planning processes, equipment strategy development, life cycle cost analysis, equipment replacement strategies, KPI data tracking/reporting. Short, medium, and long-term planning of all maintenance resources, safely and within budget.

 

Key Responsibilities:

·        Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
·        Lead the Fixed Plant, Open Pit and Underground Mine Maintenance planning and reliability teams.
·        Promote and maintain a results-driven, continuous improvement, performance culture throughout the operation.
·        Coach employees and build positive team relationships.
·        Coordinating reliability centered maintenance programs including NDT, Vibration Monitoring, Oil Analysis and Life Cycle Cost programs.
·        Ensure cost control of activities; monitor activity progress, adjust work schedules, and resource requirements accordingly.
·        Collect and analyze information used to plan and schedule maintenance.
·        Coordinate the planning and reliability functions in consultation with the fleet superintendents, planning, and reliability team members.
·        Establish and manage maintenance operating systems.
·        Generate reports, and other documentation used to monitor and manage specific maintenance programs.
·        Understand and utilize standard planning and scheduling methodologies and tools.
·        Participate in all regular meetings, including scheduling meeting, toolbox and contractor meetings etc.
·        Provide regular reporting and updates to management.
·        Maximize equipment reliability and availability through efficient and proactive preventative maintenance programs.
·        Prepare budgets and forecasts based on leading reliability centered practices.
·        Ensure work order discipline requirements within SAP.
·        Analyze repair vs replacement models feeding into the site’s capital planning.
·        Asset condition monitoring and high-risk equipment condition review and contingency planning.

 

Qualifications & Training:

·        Engineering degree or equivalent in a Mine/Ore processing plant environment.
·        Valid Driver’s license
·        WHMIS Training
·        MOL 5 Step Supervisor Training

Experience and Abilities:

·        5-10 years mining experience focused on mobile fleet and fixed plant assets.
·        Experience with large open cut mining equipment, underground equipment, and milling equipment.
·        3-5 years supervision experience leading teams.
·        Strong understanding of safely regulations, environmental standards, and best practices in equipment maintenance and reliability.
·        Demonstrated experience improving reliability, maintenance planning, materials management, budgeting, and long-term asset integrity management.
·        Competent in equipment strategy development and improvement using RCM methods, life cycle costing, root cause analysis, and defect elimination processes.
·        Competent in condition monitoring techniques and data interpretation inclusive of oil condition, thermography, vibration analysis, NDT, and thickness testing.
·        Competent in long-term maintenance planning, shutdown planning, zero based budget development and cost forecasting.
·        Strong knowledge in SAP and Microsoft Office suite applications.
·        Ability to read and interpret OEM schematics.
·        Experience with ParcView, Delta-V, and Wenco Maintenance Monitor programs.
